Academy Art & Frame Company is excited to announce that we are having Art Classes at the Gallery. Kim Costello is someone who believes in encouraging beginning artists of all ages to express themselves. For this reason, it is inspiring to have award winning artists willing to share their artistic passions with others. Please check out below the different mediums and groups that are available.

Framing for Beginners

Time: 5-7:30 pm
Cost: Free
Space limited to 12 people
Instructor: Cas Foste, Custom Framer and Curator at AAFC

Topics will cover the basics of framing your art into a ready made frame and preparing your work on a budget.
We will also cover why you should or should not use certain materials and what it means to do "conservation framing".
Will also have a hands on training on how to draw out and cut your perfect mat.

Wildlife Photography: From the Backyard to the National Parks
Join local photographer Andrew Ketsdever for a 1 day workshop with a 3 hour photo review session one month later.
Students will learn basic camera operation, rules of composition and artistic techniques for wildlife photography. They will learn the basics of animal portraiture and environmental wildlife photography. They will also learn where to find wildlife in Colorado and the basics of animal behavior to anticipate "the shot". The class will also cover ethical issues and acting in the best interest of your wild subjects.

You can meet wildlife photographer Andrew Ketsdever and see his work at the 3rd Friday Reception, August 18, from 4-8pm. Refreshments served.

Beginning Watercolor

Join us for a Fall Beginning Watercolor class. Let Teri, a certified Grumbacher instructor, teach you all the fundamentals while having fun with other artists in an artistic environment. Just bring a watercolor “block”, some tube w/c paints, a few white w/c nylon brushes and a willingness to learn new techniques including composition, color theory, blending methods and all basic watercolor tools.


Photography Workshop:
Exploring and Engaging the Foundations of Photography

This is a series of workshops for novices to explore using your camera and improving your photos. There will a mix of instruction, Q & A and some hands on. Topics for each class will vary and include: shooting modes, camera settings, composition basics, some legal issues, editing basics, overall workflow basics and more. The goal is to answer these two questions: “What do I see that captures my attention?” and “How do I best take the picture?”

Class Dates: 1st and 3rd Tuesdays starting September 5; meeting
at 4 - 6 pm
This is an ongoing class but not consecutive. Class can be started at anytime.
Cost: $10 per class, 1st class is free

Peak Digital Imaging Society Meeting
There is no meeting in August.
We are pleased to announce that Peak Digital Imaging Society, a local photography and digital art club, will now hold their monthly meeting here in the gallery. The group meets 9 months out of the year (no meetings in August, November or December) on the 4th Thursday from 7-9pm.

The group is open to all ages and all skill levels. They hold 3 meetings that are Competitions, 3 that are mini workshops, and 3 speakers from the digital world. There are no dues, it is a free club.

We are looking for teachers to teach classes for the summer!
