Art Aloud 2017
Aloud is an opportunity for writers, poets and artists to share their work, as well as collaborate, in appreciation of National Poetry Month. Artists must create work based on a poem, story, lyrics, quotes, or anything to do with the written word, and vice versa for writers and authors. Both the artwork and written word must be displayed together but not necessarily designed as one piece. Academy Art & Frame Company collaborates with multiple other galleries and locations in Colorado Springs to bring a truly dynamic exhibition of local artists and writers. This is the 10th year for Art Aloud and the venues include AAFC, Hooked on Books, Sand Creek Library Branch, and Dream Catchers. Each venue will have a reception with a live poetry reading given by the artists and anyone who would like to share their work or favorite poet. Music is absolutely aloud to be shared! This show is open to all mediums and all ages. Make connections with other artists and poets on our Art Aloud Facebook page.

6th ANNUAL JUDGED MINIATURES ART SHOW 2017

DEFINITION: Miniature paintings and sculptures are fine art on a small scale, with minute attention to detail, which can withstand close inspection or enlargement. As a guideline (not a rule) for a general definition of small scale, a subject should be no larger than 1/6th actual size. A human head is about 9 inches so the painted head should be no larger than 1½”. Subjects too small for portrayal in 1/6th scale or nonrepresentational work such as abstracts or surrealism may meet the spirit of a miniature if the work meets the above definition of miniature art.
